A-ha!

Looking at the ocean this past weekend reminded me of the importance of putting aside all my to-do’s and taking some “me time” once in a while. Do you ever take a break? And is it often enough? You’re supposed to do it daily! Let me share with you the “how to” so you can have the quality of life you desire, and the “why” it’s so crucial for your well-being.

Priorities and the difference between “urgent” and “important”

First you have to set up your priorities in place. I find that prioritizing helps me achieve my goals like nothing else does. Figure out what’s important and what’s urgent (huge difference- the first one rules, but you already knew that!), and go for it. I’ve tried a few approaches and I’ll share with you “The Winner Method”:

  1. Stop all the distractions
  2. Focus all your attention on what you’re doing
  3. Take care of one thing at a time

I follow these steps like a workout routine, and once I’m done, I’m ready to play and let myself go (zip lining totally does it for me, as shown on the photo above at the Victoria Falls in Zambia!). You too need to play if you want to stay healthy and keep creating.

You don’t stop inhaling, do you?

Dr. Joan Halifax reflecting on Brene Browns’ new book Braving the Wilderness says: “Now it’s time to inhale. There is the in-breath (when you take a break and recharge), and there is the out-breath (when you work on your priorities), and it’s easy to believe that we must exhale all the time, without ever inhaling. But the inhale is absolutely essential if you want to continue to exhale.”

And that is how you get back your time and your quality of life.

Thank you very much for reading and sharing my newsletters! We hope that you enjoy setting up your priorities and putting them into practice.
