It’s never too early to start thinking about your next vacation, is it? Only the idea of planning the trip is such a fun thing to do! As they say, the trip doesn’t begin when you arrive at your destination, but at home 😆!
But then the thought of leaving your property unattended hits you, and you either take the risk of going anyway, stressing about it and hoping that it will all be okay, or you won’t leave at all to avoid the stress. Alleviating stress and taking breaks from our routine and work is a must, so at Boutique Concierge we decided to help so everyone can go on vacation and enjoy it.
While managing our clients’ homes and to-do lists are the main services we provide, checking their properties while they travel, either for business or pleasure, has become a must—especially now with so much theft and excess rain (a client’s pool overflowed just after she left on one of her journeys. Imagine what would’ve happened if she hadn’t decided to have a personal concierge check her place).
Below are 11 Tips that will help you be better prepared when you go on vacation. We do it for our clients, and I encourage you to do it as well, so you’re set for a good start to your trip:

- Stop your mail.
- Turn off the water.
- Turn off the heat/AC.
- Toss food that will go to waste.
- Set up your pets at a daycare facility or with a pet sitter.
- Lock your car in a safe place.
- Make sure your sprinklers are working, or have someone water your plants for you.
- Ask your gardener to keep the garbage bins in.
- Bring in outdoor pillows and furniture.
- Set your house alarm and notify the home security system operator about your travels.
- Notify your credit card company of where you’ll be traveling so you can keep using your card.
The following are additional tasks that we do when our clients travel so they can travel with peace of mind and enjoy their vacation:

- Check the interior and the exterior of the house.
- Check the mail.
- Run water through all faucets and toilets.
- Check the plants and notify the gardener if something doesn’t look right.
- Check the pool water level.
- Look for maintenance and security issues.
